Last year Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Redmi 2 which packs a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS fully laminated display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, Android 4.4 (KitKat) with MIUI 6, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE with support for TD-LTE 2300MHz (Band 40) and FDD-LTE 1800MHz (Band 3) for India and a 2200mAh battery.
Recently the successor of Redmi 2,The Redmi 2 Prime is Rumored to be announced on August 13 2015 along with the announcement of MIUI 7.There is no info about the price tag yet.It will be on sell on Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal respectively.
The Redmi 2 Prime will pack the same specs as the Redmi 2 but with a bumped up 16GB internal storage & 2GB of RAM
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime will give a tough competitor to other smartphones in the similar price range if it is released for Rs. 6,999. We will have to wait for the official announcement to see if the company is gearing to launch the smartphone in India soon.
